Did you know that as a parent you are responsible for the spiritual leadership of your kids and family? That can sound rather daunting and intimidating. I mean, what is family spiritual leadership anyway? Where would someone start in leading his or her family spiritually? What if you’ve never led someone else spiritually?
As a ministry we want to help you lead your family spiritually. The first thing needed is a clear destination. Have you ever set out on a trip and not knew where you were trying to go? Probably not, but even if you did it probably took you awhile to get there if you even ever got there. So the question to ask is “what?” What is it that we want our family to do?
Fortunately that question has an easy answer, it’s pretty similar for most of our families. We want our families to be in a growing relationship with their Heavenly Father. There, now that wasn’t so difficult was it? It’s the next step that’s gets a little harder.
Once you know where you are going, you have to figure out how you are going to get there. To stay with the travel theme, you need a map to figure out how to get from where you are to where you want to be; a place where your family is in a growing relationship with their Heavenly Father.
The map will undoubtedly be different for each family. However, as a starting place begin thinking about the spiritual experiences your family has or could have. We believe that kids grow in their relationship with their Heavenly Father through the experiences they have with people of faith and places of faith. These different experiences are the filling stations on the journey that keep us going towards our destination.
So one of the best things you can do for your kids and family is to intentionally engage your family in shared irresistible experiences that lead your family into a growing relationship with our Heavenly Father. Start brainstorming what some of those experiences might be and begin putting together the road map for your family’s spiritual journey.
Our leadership team is working on developing some ways where we as a church can partner with you to help your family grow in your relationship with our Heavenly Father. Be on the look out for future developments as we as a church look to partner with your family to raise up a generation that is passionate about living for our Heavenly Father.
