Determining who falls into the category of "Adult Ministry Staff" is a somewhat confusing process. After many conversations, we are choosing to list Worship staff separately on those pages, and will cover the others here.
Adult Ministries Pastor
Darin Miller -
Darin has been on staff since 2002 as Director of Student MInistries. He moved to adult ministries in 2011 where he connects Community Groups, Women's and Men's Ministries, and Missions. Darin is curently a seminary student as well as being a husband and father of three, which explains his other passion...coffee. Darin believes that the church has a vital role to play in the life of the believer and in the world. Every believer is called to ministry, no matter the age.
Community Groups
Devry Coghlan -
Devry has been on staff at Cove since 2007. She and her family live here and had attended Cove for a couple of years when she saw the announcement for a part time position working with our C-Groups. She has been a great part of the Cove team ever since. Devry has a heart for people and the ability to connect them to one another (no- not like a dating service), and has been very effective in getting people into Community Groups.
Pastoral Care
All Community Groups-
At Cove, the majority of our Pastoral Care is handled by our C-Groups. They visit in hospitals, take meals when needed, and have been known to even mow lawns and arrange transportation. In times of loss, they often serve at Funerals. Our C-Groups do what no staff pastor could ever accomplish. This is also why it is so important that our members and attenders get involved in a C-Group. The relationships that bring this care cannot be manufactured after something goes wrong in your life - it must be created ahead of time.
Teaching/Preaching
John Tanner-
John is the founding and Lead Pastor at Cove Church. You can learn more about his story on the "about us" tab on the top menu.
He and his family have been integral to the success of Cove as they have followed God's leading over the years. John preaches about 40 Sundays a year, and has a team of others who fill out the other 12. This allows him time to reflect and prepare, and also develop other teachers. As we move into the multi-site format, this will prove to be a valuable process. John's style is "relevant and intellectually honest".
Administration/Facilities
Von Golden -
Where to begin... Von has been here for a LONG time, and kept things moving and running as the office manager and John's administrative support. On a daily basis, Von really runs the church! She brings a positive attitude and genuine love for Cove to her job, and makes this a better place. She is the one you call to schedule meetings with John or ask questions about the facilities (weddings, meetings, etc).
Matt Jones-
Matt came to Cove in January of 2007 with a plan to work part time for us while he developed his consulting company. He is not really sure how it happened, but he now is the Executive Pastor at Cove and oversees the staff, finances, facilities and furniture arrangement (if you stop by the office you will notice that he puts everything on wheels). Matt brings a lot of knowledge and skills to Cove in the area of leadership and organizational development. He and his family are excited to be a part of Cove Church.
Ronda Hutchins-
Ronda joined our staff in 2009 after being a very involved member of Cove for many years. She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and a great addition to our team. Her primary role is working as Matt's administrative assistant, but is known to jump in and help anyone that needs it (even when they don't ask!). She and her husband Scott also serve as Coaches for our Community Group Leaders.
Emily Riley-
Emily has been a long time member at Cove and was a active volunteer before joining the the staff in 2005. Emily worked with the Student Ministry for 5 years before becoming Stephen Hampton and Darin Miller's Administrative Assistant. While Stephen and Darin fight over her time, she takes care of all of the details within adult ministry on both campuses as well as making sure Stephen can perfom his role with excellence.Karen Armbrester-
Karen has a very important job at Cove...she pays the bills! As Cove has grown, so have the complexities of the "business' side of the church. Karen joined our staff in 2008 and has helped us through some really tough economic times. Karen works closely with the Executive Pastor and Finance Team to ensure that we are always doing the best we can. It is really nice to have someone who gets both the money and ministry sides of church in that office.
Dan Fincher-
Dan is one of the most visible people on Sunday mornings who is not on the stage! He has been at Cove since 2000 and makes sure that our facilities are ready and working at all times. Dan also has the most extensive knowledge of useless information of anyone on staff (just try to stump him!). He is the official biscuit/scone taster for Cove on Sunday mornings - as well as the official "ungreeter" when we have a problem (that's sort of like a church bouncer).
Garry Moore-
Garry is one of the most "invisible" staff members at Cove! He joined the staff in 2006 and has been quietly working behind the scenes ever since. Garry does a little bit of everything - cleans, sets and takes down countless chairs each week, puts together furniture, takes out the trash and refinishes and repaints anything. He typically works at the times no one is here, so you may never actually meet him - but the evidence of his work is all over Cove. We are very fortunate to have him here.
